After School Wood Shop 10/1 thru 10/29

Service Description

This five-week after-school woodworking series gives students ages 10 and up more than 12 hours of guided, hands-on experience in the woodshop. If time allows, students will also have the opportunity to explore additional woodworking projects. Over the course of five sessions, students will learn essential shop safety and gain experience using hand tools and power tools, including the miter saw, bandsaw, drill press, and lathe. They will also practice sanding and finishing techniques, with the option to add color using milk paint. Each student will design and build a one-of-a-kind three-legged stool they’ll be proud to bring home. Along the way, they’ll develop practical woodworking skills, confidence, problem-solving abilities, and creative independence. Class size is limited to four students, allowing for focused instruction, collaboration, and a welcoming sense of community. No previous woodworking experience is necessary. This class is well suited for students who enjoy working with their hands and are excited to learn how to safely use a variety of woodworking tools. A minimum of three students is required for this class to run. If minimum enrollment is not met, registered students will receive a full refund or class credit.
