Basics of Metalsmithing
Transform reclaimed metal into something new
Service Description
In this hands-on introduction to metalsmithing, you’ll work with non-ferrous metals (brass, copper, and silver) to explore the full process—from melting and pouring to pulling your own wire. We’ll cover essential safety, tool use, annealing, and techniques for shaping and texturing metal. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the material and the satisfaction of creating their own wire from easily found and reclaimed sources such as electrical wire or spent bullet casings. No prior experience required. All tools and materials provided; materials fee for silver based on market price.
Cancellation Policy
We offer a full refund for: a) family or medical emergencies; b) cancellations 3 weeks before class date; and c) registrations made in error. Credit for future classes is offered in most other cases, with notice given to your instructor at least 48 hours before the start of the class.
